How much do your sculptures cost?

I base the pricing of my sculptures as fair as possible on a per project basis depending on the type of sculpture you choose, the overall size, level of difficulty and any additions to the sculpture that we discuss. After a complimentary consultation, I will be happy to help you decide which type of sculpture and size is possible within your budget range. Contact me to discuss your idea and receive an initial quote as a starting point.

What is included in the price of a sculpture?

The price of a sculpture will include the completed sculpture bonded to it's base and directions for opening, displaying and caring for your sculpture.  Wall hangings (Dimensional Portraits) will come with a wall mount already attached on the back of the sculpture and will be ready for you to hang.  Some wall hangings may come with additional wall mounts that you will need to place on the wall yourself prior to hanging the sculpture for added security.  Sculpture prices do not include additional framing, shipping costs or additional special packing you may request for shipping for very fragile items.

I will be happy to send you "work in progress" photos (by request only) and I will include high resolution photos of the completed photos that you can use for your own purposes, sent to you as jpeg image files.  They will most likely be the same enhanced photos I will use for my own advertising/marketing purposes.

What are your sculptures made of?

I use a non-toxic polymer clay that is extremely durable once baked, although small, thinner parts of the sculpture may still be  extremely fragile.  The sculpture may have some sort of internal support and/or armature.  When the sculpture is completed, it is bonded to it's permanent base.  It is then sanded, primed and airbrushed using acrylic paints. Hand painted detailing is added and once the sculpture has completely dried, it is set with varnish. Depending on the sculpture, I might use glass eyes, false eyelashes or additional craft items such as moss, rocks, feathers, glass, glitter, stones, wood, etc.  Final touches are done at the end of the process, such as adding a nameplate if requested, etc.

The final sculpture is considered to be a work of fine art and should be displayed properly, never played with or disturbed.

What type of sculpture would you suggest for me?

There are 3 main types of sculptures I create.  1) A "Dimensional Portrait" hangs on a wall and are space saving and convenient. They are also the most durable to ship and easiest to create time wise.  The slightly protruding clay gives the piece a dimensional look and feel rather and is stunning to the viewer.  Refer to my LURCH sculpture an example of a Dimensional Portrait.  They require wall hanging fixtures that support a heavier weight.  2) Full 3D model sculptures are just as amazing and can be viewed from all sides but are usually mounted on a base for security.  They would require a secure, uninterrupted display area.  3) I also create "usable art" upon request, such as sculptured light switches, business card holders, creative gift ideas, etc. It is ultimately your decision which type of sculpture will work for you.  I certainly hope you will chose to have me sculpt something for you in every type of sculpture!  Keep in mind that I create sculptures up to a maximum overall size of 2'x2'x1' (basically the dimensions inside of a standard kitchen oven).

What reference materials will you need?

The more reference materials I receive from you, with as many views and perspectives both in photographs and in video clips - the better your sculpture will turn out, especially when it comes to sculpting a replica for you in order to capture the subjects likeness and soul.   Close ups are most appreciated.  Photos should show clearness with accurate color in good lighting. If your photos show a range of colors in the same place on the subject then I will ask you which colors you prefer me to use.

It is your choice to send the reference photos via actual photos through the mail, or as an online file for me to easily view.  Either one or both is acceptable.  Please send copies of original photos/material if sending by mail.  I am not responsible for the safe return or condition of original materials sent.

06

How long will it take for you to complete my sculpture?

Please have patience.  I do not rush my art, especially when creating Replicas. It may take a few weeks to several months to complete your sculpture based on the level of difficulty and my schedule. I keep you frequently informed on the progress of your sculpture and can only offer a "guestimated" date range of completion as I am in the finishing phase.  You will be notified well in advance when your sculpture is nearing completion and when it will be shipped.  Completion dates are subject to change (and often do).

What is a Custom Sculpture?

Custom sculptures may be of any subject or any theme not listed here on my website, or you may be in need of a prototype for a product of which you cannot discuss without having me sign your non disclosure agreement.  You might also be interested in a very large sculpture that will have to be designed to suit your specific needs.

08

Do you create Original sculptures?

Yes!  I love doing original artwork and I create my own unique pieces when I have time.  If any of them become available for sale, I will post pictures of them with their price here on my website.

I want one! How do I ORDER a sculpture?

Email, call or text me with your name and contact information.  I will contact you directly to discuss your idea and go over what reference materials I would require.  You may ask any questions you have for me at that time. You will then receive an email from me within 2 days that includes a price quote and my availability to begin your sculpture.   A 50% NON-REFUNDABLE deposit is required to begin the art which covers art materials necessary for your sculpture and my time working on your project through its first phase.  You will be notified well in advance when the balance is due and will include the price of shipping. The balance is due prior to shipping the sculpture.  ALL Payments must be submitted through PayPal to my email address:  bonnievkiefer@gmail.com.  I will begin your sculpture when the money has cleared to the receiving bank and ship your sculpture after the balance and shipping payment has cleared the receiving bank.  If you are not able to pay the balance after 90 days of requests for final payment, your piece will be considered "a forfeit" and I reserve the right to keep the piece for my personal art gallery collection.  SHIPPING is priced depending on the total weight of the package including protective wrapping. special boxing for shipping, etc.  DUE to the poor handling of packages during shipping, I now ship my art ONLY through special delivery.

What if my sculpture has been damaged during shipping?

Your sculpture will come with instructions on how to carefully unpack and remove your sculpture.  I keep photos of your sculpture being packed and sealed.  My sculptures are extremely durable and would have to be severely abused during shipping to break or crush parts of the sculpture.  However, I am not responsible for shipping damage once it is out of my hands.

Regardless, IF your sculpture has been damaged due to shipping, please call me to discuss what can be done to remedy the situation and I will guide you through the repair.  There may be a chip or small piece that can be glued back on, as an example.
